Poet Kenn Nesbitt Turns Conestoga Elementary Students onto Poetry

Through laughter and high energy, Kenn Nesbitt taught the students at Conestoga Elementary that poetry can be fun. Kenn read some of his kid friendly poems and had the students help create some of their own. Kenn spent the day meeting with the students, signing copies of his book and sharing his love of poetry. A grant from the Penn Manor Education Foundation helped bring Kenn Nesbitt to Conestoga Elementary.

Eshleman Elementary Students Get Friendly with Owls

Steve Kauffman, a fisheries biologist from Normandeau Associates, taught Mrs. Fischer's third grade class some amazing and fun facts about owls. The students learned through entertaining demonstrations about an owl's incredible hearing ability, heard different "hoots", and made "eye contact" with them (at left). The presentation was made to all Eshleman first, second and third grade students as part of a grant from Turkey Hill.

WGAL Meteorologist Les Still Gives a Weather Lesson to Martic 2nd Grade Class

The students in Julie Gerner's 2nd grade class at Martic Elementary may be the meteorologists of tomorrow. Les Still from WGAL visited the class and gave a lesson on how weather forecasts are researched. The students had lots of questions for him! How fast does a hurricane spin? What happens if lightening hits your house? Les patiently answered the questions and had many of the students dreaming about becoming meteorologists someday!
