Spring Fling - Friday, May 16

Penn Manor's annual Spring Fling will be held at Comet Field on Friday, May 16 from 3 PM until 10 PM. Fireworks will begin at 9 PM. The event features rides, games, live music, and lots of great food! Spring Fling is open to the public. There is no admission charged and parking is free.
Cyber Safety Workshop for Parents

High School Hosts Read Across America Event

The 8th annual Read Across America Read-A-Thon will be held on Sunday, March 2 from 1 to 4 pm in the high school library. Children of all ages are invited to come and help the Cat in the Hat celebrate his birthday! Bring a caring adult and your favorite book. Register by calling 872-9520 x1702 by February 25. If you are able, bring a birthday present for the Cat - a new book to give to children who are less fortunate. PM grad and author Cathy Scharnberger Molitoris will be a special guest.

PMHS to host Career Night for Parents on January 7

In keeping with the high school initiative to prepare all students to have a post-secondary plan, the high school counselors will hold Career Night on Jan. 7th from 7-8:30 PM in the high school auditorium. The evening will be designed to help parents/guardians of 9-12th grade students guide their children. Parents will be provided with an overview of current labor market trends, will participate in an activity to assess their students' strengths and interests and also learn how to use web resources to locate further information. PMHS students present their annual Spookhouse on Friday, October 26

Penn Manor High School's auditorium will be transformed in to a spookhouse on Friday evening, October 26 from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm. The ITS Club members at the high school will delight youngsters with their unique version of a Haunted Movie Theater. Price of admission is $1.00 or a canned good which the club will donate to the Central PA Food Bank. The spookhouse is not intensely scary and is recommended for kids age 7 to 11.

Penn Manor High School’s homecoming court was announced recently with the queen to be crowned at halftime of the football game against Hempfield on Friday, October 5. The game between Penn Manor and Hempfield will be held at Millersville University’s Biemsderfer Field. The game starts at 7:00 pm.

The 6th bi-annual Penn Manor Athletic Wall of Honor banquet will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the Penn Manor High School cafeteria. The cost per person is $20.00 and tickets are available from Jeff Roth, Athletic Director, at 872-9520, ext. 1367. The 2007 Athletic Wall of Honor inductees include Kelly Hollinger Pyle (Class of '89), Dr. Tom Martin (Class of '67), Diane Elicker Boone (Class of '74), Deborah Mohler Cooley (Class of '92) and the 2002 Penn Manor Girls Soccer Team.

The 6th annual Penn Manor Kickoff Classic introducing the high school fall sports teams, band, and cheerleaders will be held on Thursday, August 30 at Manor Middle School due to the construction work at Comet Field. Chicken BBQ meals will be available to ticketholders from 5 to 6:30 pm with the Classic itself getting started at 6:45 pm. Anyone wishing to purchase chicken BBQ tickets should contact a fall athlete or coach.

Manor FFA Teams Excel at Penn State

At this year’s FFA Activities Week held at Penn State University, June 12 - 14, 27 Manor FFA members competed in six Career Development Events (CDE’s). The CDE’s that the chapter members participated in were Poultry Evaluation and Technology, Meats Evaluation and Technology, Floriculture Design and Identification, Horse Evaluation, Dairy Foods Technology, and Small Animal/Vet Science. All of these teams competed against other FFA members from across the state during their stay at Penn State University, along with attending sessions of the 78th Pennsylvania FFA Association Summer Convention. Penn Manor Student Takes First at PA State Computer Competition

Matthew Vollmer captured first place at the 9th annual PA State Computer Fair Competition in the Graphic Design category. Matt received $500.00 for his first place win. Kyle Healy (Animation category) and Chris Hornblower and Katie Buchman (Desktop Publishing category) also qualified to compete at the state competition. The event was held on May 22 at Dickinson College. Congratulations to all!
Act I Referendum Question Defeated in Penn Manor

The Act I referendum question that would have lowered school property taxes in exchange for raising the earned income tax was defeated at the polls on Tuesday. Final figures show that 67% of Tuesday's voters in Penn Manor School District voted against the referendum question.

This past summer, the Pennsylvania legislature passed a law that will have a profound impact on the funding of public schools. Penn Manor School District will be hosting an important information meeting for our community members.

More specifically, they will address the referendum question on the May 15th Primary Election Ballot and its effect on Penn Manor residents.

Boys Basketball Tickets on Sale

Tickets to the 1st round PIAA State boys basketball playoff contest between Penn Manor and Bethlehem Liberty will be on sale at the Penn Manor High School Office from 9-11am and 1-3pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The game will take place Saturday March 10th at 6 pm at Conestoga Valley High School. Ticket prices are $6 adult and $3 student.

Boys JV Basketball game vs. Etown 6:30 pm (West Gym)
Girls JV Basketball game vs. Etown 8:00 pm (West Gym)
The East Gym is located at Central Complex; the West Gym is located near the outdoor track.

Penn Manor Offers Tax Rebate Program

On July 10, 2006, the Penn Manor Board of School Directors approved a resolution providing for property tax rebates to senior citizens, widows, widowers and disabled persons who meet certain income eligibility guidelines and who are homeowners. The rebate program is modeled after the Pennsylvania Property Tax Rebate program (see more information below) which is administered by the PA Department of Revenue and funded by PA Lottery proceeds. By implementing the rebate program the board is demonstrating a willingness to help the aforementioned individuals for the 2006-2007 fiscal year. The district rebate program will continue for one year only since the Pennsylvania Property Tax Rebate Program was recently dramatically expanded under Act 1 of 2006.

Penn Manor Athletic Wall of Honor Inductees Announced

The 5th class of inductees to the Penn Manor Athletic Wall of Honor will be recognized at a banquet on Thursday, October 6 in the Penn Manor High School cafeteria.
Athletes are nominated for the Athletic Wall of Honor by anyone who feels that they know a deserving athlete who is a Penn Manor graduate. A combined school and community committee selects the athletes ultimately chosen for the Wall of Honor based on the information presented on the nomination form.
Tickets for the banquet are $15.00 and can be purchased by contacting Jeff Roth, Athletic Director, at 872-9520 ext. 1367.
