Venture Grant Projects

Venture Grants are awarded twice a year to support innovative classroom programs and activities for which funding is not normally available through school district resources.  Penn Manor Education Foundation makes its best effort to distribute funds across all grade levels and all buildings. Since 2000, PMEF has distributed more than $1.5 million in Venture Grants.

Cardboard Regatta sets sail with PMEF grant

Penn Manor High School Physics students recently set sail in the Millersville University swimming pool in boats made entirely of cardboard and duct tape. The competition was the brainchild of Penn Manor High School physics teacher Barney Peace, who challenged his students to design, build and pilot the boats to compete in the Cardboard Regatta. The event, held in two heats, was made possible with a $2,642 grant from Penn Manor Education Foundation to cover pool rental fees. Read more about the regatta here
