Congratulations to the 33 Penn Manor middle school students who recently participated in the AMC 8 national math competition.
AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice examination designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. Twenty seven students at Manor Middle School and six at Marticville Middle School participated.
Jordan Photis (Manor) placed first, followed by Andrew Ament (Manor). Third-place finishers were Luke Braas (Manor), Andrew Glenn (Manor), Colin Kligge (Manor) and Amanda Wolf (Marticville).
Other participants were Devyn Mauger, Tyler Grassel, Taylor Shirk, Maria Shroyer, Emily Witmer, Everett Barry, Noah Donaldson, Eleanor Helm, Gabe Hill, Tommy Hockenberry, Jace Hoffer, Adaira Hufford, Audrey Jachimowicz, Kaylee Jackson, Tebelechi Ketema, Ella Kratz, Elizabeth Lebo, Katie Mackey, Olivia Nicastro, Curtis Rabatin, Emily Riggs, Jordan Schucker, Emma Shenk, Jack Shipley, Kyler Stigelman, Gavin Switzer, and Evelyn Weaver.
In addition to placing first for Penn Manor, Jordan earned an honor roll certificate for finishing among the top 5 percent of students nationally.
