Outstanding employees, retirees honored

Penn Manor school district honored nine retirees with nearly 200 years of  combined service May 4 during the 37th annual Employee Recognition Dinner in the high school cafeteria.

Attendees watched a video presentation of comments by the retirees, each of whom will be remembered with a brick in the courtyard outside the Penn Manor High School auditorium.

Retirees include Liz Crum, Patricia Frey, Janice Maurer, Phyllis Ream, Carol Witmer, Pam Yarnell, James Yearsley, John Young and Steven Young.

Also honored Tuesday were 27 Penn Manor employees with 20 or more years of service and the Outstanding Employees and Teachers of the Year.

Jeremy Nesmith, coordinator of the Twilight Alternative Education Program, and Sherlyn Wolf, cafeteria supervisor at Hambright Elementary School, were named Penn Manor Outstanding Employees for 2015-2016.

Honored as Outstanding Educators were Peg Murr, a Hambright first-grade teacher, and Anne Butterfield, head nurse at Penn Manor High School.

Employees honored for 20 years include Richard Brenton, Nancy Dombach, Sue Hamer, Nancy Jo Johnson, Chris Johnston, Lori Longenecker, Holly Mercadante, Jen Sugra, Amy Wiggins, John Wealand, Jill Almoney, Aron Basile, Lisa Bitler, Jon Boxleitner, Dave Hoar, Don Hartsough, Dawn Janssen, Christine McKnight, Curt Snelbaker and Steve Weidner.

Employees honored for 25 years include Karen Braun, Diana Calender, John Matusek and Mary Snyder.

Employees honored for 30 years include Allan Dutton, Dave Bender and Frank Dell’Estate.
