Mini-THON kicks off fund-raising events

Penn Manor High School student groups are planning a series of events to help raise funds for the school’s first Mini-THON on April 15.

All proceeds will benefit the Four Diamonds Fund, which provides support to pediatric cancer patients and their families. Students hope to raise $5,000 through THON activities. Here are the activities/events:

March 19Zumbathon, high school West Gym

Hosted by Tri-M Music Honor Society, the event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants can learn Zumba and dance under the direction of a professional instructor.  Raffles and refreshments will be available. Admission is $6 or two tickets for $10.

March 24Stall Day, Penn Manor High School math classes

Students are encouraged to bring in any loose change that day. Classes won’t begin until all the money is counted.

March 26Penn Manor Bunny Hop Run for the Kids, Manor Middle School

Sign-in begins at 8 a.m.; run starts at 9 a.m. The event is hosted by the Varsity Club and will include a bake sale by Penn Manor’s FCCLA Club. Race fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt. You can sign up here

April 9Chicken Barbecue, St. Phillip the Apostle Church

The National Honor Society will host the barbecue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold in advance at $9 for a meal and $6 for a half chicken. Tickets can be purchased from NHS members or by contacting jodie.henderson@pennmanor.net

April 9 – Faculty vs. Students Basketball Game, PMHS East Gym

Varsity Club is sponsoring the game, which begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $2 per person, and all team members are pledging at least $20 to Mini-THON.

April 10 – Car Wash, Lebzelter’s of Millersville

Hosted by Serteen Club, the event runs from 2 to 5 p.m.

April 15 – Mini-THON, Penn Manor High School West Gym.

The event will run from 6-11 p.m. and include a dance marathon with a DJ, games, food and other activities. Students must register in advance. Members of the public can attend for a $15 admission fee.
