Penn Manor sports teams, fans and community members raised an impressive $11,390 during the recent Pink Out fundraiser to benefit cancer research and treatment.
The money was raised through cash donations and sales of T-shirts, baked goods and other items. The funds went to organizations that support cancer research and assist those fighting the disease.
The Comets field hockey team went above and beyond, raising $8,377 for the American Cancer Society. On Friday, team members presented a check to Peg Schannauer of the Lancaster chapter of the ACS. The money will be used for the Cancer Society’s wig room and to cover medical transportation costs for cancer patients.
Other teams and individuals participated in the Pink Out, and district elementary schools joined in the effort as students and staff donned pink on Oct. 9, Pink Out Day in Penn Manor.
Thanks to all who participated in this worthwhile fundraiser!
