Penn Manor hosts Safe Schools Night Nov. 23

Penn Manor School District will host a Safe Schools Night for all parents beginning at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 23 in the Penn Manor High School auditorium.

John Baker, safety and security manager for Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13, will lead a 45-minute presentation on the strategies students and school personnel should follow in an emergency. He will talk about recent changes in procedures, including:

  • Evacuations versus traditional “lockdowns”
  • Empowering teachers, staff and students to take a more active role when an intruder is present
  • Establishing “rally points” off campus for students and staff during an evacuation
  • Strategies to improve communications during and after an emergency

A question-and-answer session will follow Baker’s presentation. Penn Manor administrative staff will be on hand to answer specific questions about district policies and procedures.

Due to the nature of the presentation, some material may not be suitable for children. Child care will be available for children who are toilet trained. To request child care, please call 872-1401.

The event is free and open to the public. A printable flyer is below:
