Comets teams competing at a high level

Congratulations to the Penn Manor student athletes who are ending their seasons on a high note. Here’s what’s happening:

The boys’ cross-country team placed second in the L-L League Championship meet Tuesday at Ephrata. The results were Hempfield (1st), PM (2nd) and Cedar Crest (3rd). The district meet is Oct. 31.

The field hockey team won a semifinal league match Tuesday night, defeating Conestoga Valley, 2-0, to advance to the L-L League Championship match vs. Donegal Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Conestoga Valley High School.

Barring any changes in the power ratings, the boys’ soccer team will make the District III playoffs and play Saturday at 7 p.m. vs. Exeter at Exeter H.S.

Golfer Allison Appleton shot an 86 and won a two-hole sudden death playoff to advance to the PIAA state championship in golf, scheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week.

The final girls’ volleyball match is tonight (Wednesday) at Penn Manor H.S. at 7 p.m. vs. Conestoga Valley. Seniors will be recognized.

The final home football game is this Friday night at 7 p.m. vs. Warwick. Senior football players, cheerleaders and band members will be recognized at 6:30 p.m.
