The documentary, created by Red Hat Films, includes interviews of students, teachers and staff about the 1:1 program, which provides laptops equipped with free, open source software to every student at Penn Manor High School. In the fall, the program will be expanded to Manor and Marticville middle schools.

Penn Manor saved about $345,000 in software fees by using open source programs and apps in the first year of the 1:1 program.

The documentary is one of two films being presented at the Red Hat Summit, the annual conference of Red Hat, the world’s largest open source software company.

Red Hat provides support and integration services to businesses and organizations utilizing open source software and apps, including major airlines and the New York Stock Exchange.
