“Mathletes” from Eshleman, Central Manor, Martic and Letort elementary schools have been crowned champions of the 2015 Penn Manor Math Bowl, an annual math problem-solving competition.
Teams of four students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades from each of Penn Manor’s seven elementary schools competed. They were selected based on the results of qualifying tests.
The competition involved three rounds. Round one focused on speed and accuracy through problem solving; round two focused on computation (without a calculator); in round three, teams had four minutes to break down and correctly respond to multi-step word problems, many of which included several data points.
Participants displayed skill, perseverance and good sportsmanship throughout the competition.
Here are the top-finishing teams:
1st place – Eshleman: Griffin Sweigart, Isaiah Rohrer, Jenna DeVinney and Elise Green.
2nd — Central Manor: Izzy Kligge, Allie Burkholder, Landon Hertzog and Roman Keefer.
