Local churches offer Internet Cafes to PM families

Penn Manor students who need help accessing the Internet after school hours now have a place to go to get online – and receive help with their homework if they need it.

Three area churches have established Internet Cafes three nights a week to provide free wireless Internet access and tutoring to Penn Manor School District students and their families. Here is the schedule:

  • Tuesdays, 6:15 to 8 p.m. – Colemanville United Methodist Church, 210 Colemanville Church Road, Conestoga, 17516.
  • Wednesdays, 6 to 8 p.m. – Millersville Brethren in Christ Church, 3116 Blue Rock Road, Lancaster, 17603.
  • Thursdays, 6:15 to 8 p.m. – Stehman Memorial United Methodist Church, 485 Indian Run Road, Millersville, 17551.

Students should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. At least two adult volunteers will be on-site at the churches during the Internet Cafes. Participants are urged to bring their own computers, if possible.

Volunteers are needed to help with tutoring. If you are interested in participating, please contact the Rev. Jim Goudie at Colemanville, pastor@colemanvilleumc.org; Amanda Rohrer at Millersville BIC, theloftinmillersville@gmail.com; or the Rev. Helen Adams at Stehman, adams45@comcast.net.

Many thanks to the churches, their staff and volunteers for providing this valuable service!
