Opening Day activities emphasize wellness

Wellness was the theme as more than 400 Penn Manor teachers, administrators and other staff members took part in Opening Day activities Monday at Penn Manor High School. Following an address by superintendent Michael Leichliter and school board president Ken Long, staff members took part in a workshop on “School Safety Response” by John Baker, safety and security manager at IU 13.

Staff then participated in a wide range of activities and workshops on such topics as controlling sugar intake, healthy cooking, yoga, stroke awareness and basic core training. Health screenings and massages also were provided, along with information about financial services, life insurance, physical therapy, eye care and other services.  Opening Day marks the start of the 2014-14 school year for staff.

The school year begins Monday, Aug. 25, for students.
