29 Penn Manor retirees honored at banquet

It was a bittersweet night Wednesday as 29 retiring employees – with a combined 800-plus years of service – were honored by Penn Manor school board at the 35th annual Employee Recognition Dinner in the high school cafeteria.

Attendees watched a video presentation of comments by the employees, who will retire at the end of this school year. Each retiree will be remembered with a brick in the courtyard outside the Penn Manor High School auditorium.

Also honored Wednesday were 100 Penn Manor employees with 20 or more years of service and the Outstanding Employees and Teachers of the Year.

Marticville Middle School custodian Patricia Frey was named the Outstanding Secondary Employee of the Year. A team of workers got the Outstanding Elementary Employee award for the first time this year – Marie Duke, Donna Falk, Kathy Gery and Faye Sangrey of the Central Manor Elementary School cafeteria.

Eshleman fifth-grade teacher John Matusek was named Outstanding Elementary Educator, and Neil Fellenbaum, high school agricultural educator, was named Outstanding Secondary Educator.

Congratulations to all, and best wishes, retirees. You will be missed!
