Mealy honored with academic award

Congratulations to Penn Manor social studies teacher and head football coach Todd Mealy, who recently received the John S. Patterson Award in American Studies from Penn State University. The award recognizes academic and creative achievement by a student in Penn State’s American Studies graduate program.

Mealy is awaiting publication of a new book, “Legendary Locals of Harrisburg,” scheduled for September, and recently submitted his thesis, titled “Arise: The Black Student Takeover and Radical Movement for Educational Change at Franklin & Marshall College, 1967-1969.”

He also appeared recently in a documentary series on the Civil War titled “Unfinished Work.” You can view the documentary here.
