PMSD participates in Peach Bottom drill

Penn Manor School District earlier today participated in a drill, called a Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise, to evaluate its response to a mock emergency at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station.

The drill helps officials determine how well schools, municipalities and emergency responders within 10 miles of the nuclear plant would react in different emergency situations. Such drills are held every two years at Peach Bottom and other nuclear plants by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The drill had minimal impact on students and was concluded at 11 a.m.
