PM girls, boys earn state medals in bowling

It’s been a banner year for Penn Manor High School’s bowling team.

Head Coach Chris Vital guided the team to the best record in the Lancaster-Lebanon League, at 76-8. Penn Manor captured the Section One title and the L-L League team championship, and the girls’ team won the Eastern PA Regional Bowling Tournament.

Both the boys and girls qualified for the state tournament, where they earned medals.

The girls’ squad of Sarah Abbas, Brianna Kauffman, Julie Bianco, Liz Burkholder, Shaylyn Fisher and Brooke Peters earned the silver medal. The boys’ team also fared well, with Cody Simet, Chase Bleacher, Tanner Simet, Austin Curtiss, Ricky Graham, Jordan Wakefield and Daniel Fry earning the bronze.

The bowlers and their coach also were honored by the sports writers of Lancaster Newspapers.

Coach Vital was named “co-coach of the year,” and Cody Simet and Liz Burkholder were named “L-L League All Stars.” Team members Ricky Graham and Julie Bianco were named second-team all stars.

Congratulations to everyone on the team for making us “Penn Manor proud”!
