In a break from tradition, Penn Manor High School will offer a dinner theater event featuring a one-act play, “Common Ground,” along with a traditional fall play, “The Foreigner,” Nov. 22 and 23.
“Foreigner” performances are scheduled for 7:30 both nights in the high school auditorium. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $8 (adults) and $6 (students) from cast or crew members or by contacting Melissa Mintzer by phone (872-9520 x1515) or email email@example.com.
Ticket forms also are available online at the Penn Manor Theatre Blog website, http://blogs.pennmanor.net/mmintzer/ticket-information/.
All seats to “The Foreigner” are reserved, and tickets purchased on the night of the shows will be $1 more — $9 for adults and $7 for students.
The theater department also is offering a “Double Feature Dinner Theatre” event Nov. 23 in the high school cafeteria. Doors open for dinner seating at 4:45 p.m., and the “Common Ground” performance begins at 5:45 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $15 and $10 for children 10 and under.
Dinner will include a buffet of soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts.
Dinner theatre patrons can stay on campus for the second show if they purchase a “Foreigner” ticket at the discounted price of $5. The form at the above link includes information on ordering tickets for either or both shows.
“Common Ground” is a contemporary play set in a coffee shop populated with high school students. It includes several vignettes of the patrons’ conversations. “The Foreigner” is set in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia where a painfully shy young man named Charlie has come to stay. The other guests are led to believe Charlie can’t understand English, and the fun begins when he overhears more than he should.
The cast of the “Foreigner” includes James Reilly, Mike Dempsey, Alyssa Crook, Coleman Hauber, Jules Leddy , Paul Harrold and Jared Scheid. Dani Shaub and Dustin Schneider are the understudies. “Common Ground” features Dustin Schneider, James Reilly, Luke Richardson, Logan Connelly, Danielle Althouse, Abby Geiger, Nicole Young, Victoria Jones, Haley Hoffer, Dezire Diaz, Sam Reitnauer, Dani Shaub and Aimee Funk.
Both shows are directed by Carole Shellenberger, with assistance from Melissa Mintzer.
